Winners of the 36th Olivier Awards were awarded on Sunday 15th April, with Matilda The Musical dominating by taking a record 7 awards for Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Director, the 4 Matildas sharing Best Actress in a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Set Design and Best Sound Design. A record number of wins by a single show gathering 7 awards. The prevous show with the most gongs was Nicholas Nickleby, which won in six categories in 1980. Astonishingly, massive National Theatre hit "One Man Two Guvnors" walked away with no awads as did "Ghost" and "Singin' in the Rain"
The 2012 Ceremony was held at the Royal Opera House on Sunday 15 April 2012 hosted by Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton.
